The Leap Year

What will you be doing tomorrow?
Once in every 4 years ...

February 21, 2008

While Ling was feeling very tired and dragging her feet up the double-decker bus, she saw this lady watching TV mobile smiling..
Ling was wondering what funny tricks that "Just for Gags" has come up with, because there are other people on the bus who are smiling so happily...

Singapore has beaten Moscow to win the bid to host the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympic Games !!!

More info about the YOG (extracted from http://www.olympic.org/uk/news/olympic_news/full_story_uk.asp?id=2477)

What are the YOG?The Youth Olympic Games are a sporting event for young people, balancing sport, education and culture. These Games work as a catalyst in these fields throughout the Olympic Movement.
The YOG’s objectives are:

3. to innovate in educating and debating Olympic values and challenges of society
4. to share and celebrate the cultures of the world in a festive atmosphere

8. to be an event of the highest international sporting standard.

Who? What? When?
The Youth Olympic Games aim to bring together talented athletes – aged from 14 to 18 - from around the world to participate in high-level competitions, but also, alongside the sports element of the event, to run educational programmes on the Olympic values, the benefits of sport for a healthy lifestyle, the social values sport can deliver and the dangers of doping and of training to excess and/or of inactivity.
The first ever Summer Youth Olympic Games will bring together approximately 3,200 athletes and 800 officials in 2010. The sports programme will encompass all 26 sports on the programme of the 2012 Summer Games, with a limited number of disciplines and events. The first Winter Olympic Youth Games will bring together around 1,000 athletes and 500 officials. The athletes will compete – for the first time in 2012 - in all seven Olympic Winter Sports. The YOG follow the traditional cycle of four years, with Summer Games in 2010, 2014, 2018, etc and Winter Games in 2012, 2016, 2020, etc.

Every Chinese New Year, sec 4A will organise a gathering at Mrs Sim's house...

(let me do an introduction.. Sec 4a is Ling's sec 4 class yearsssss ago... Mrs sim is the class's form teacher....)

The annual gathering is orgainsed without fail.. Thanks to all the 忠实 classmates.. This year, only Ling and Sing turned up for the gathering.. looks like T.L.T hasn't turned up for quite some time..
Well... only 10 if us turned up at the gathering.. given that we graduated in yr 2000, the turnout of 10 could be considered as very good le... Think we are also the oldest batch that turned up.. Not too bad actually.. a nice and small catching up and updating.. looks like the days in the science lab were a very unforgettable experience!! ask around, who would actually have the experience of having a science lab as their classroom!!

After Mrs sim's house, 5 of us proceeded to Mrs Teh's house. Mrs Teh is the chemistry teacher.. Did some procrastination... Being low profile in the class, dun think the teacher will remember me being in her class...

But afterall, it is a nice gathering!!

February 16, 2008

It was a good morning.. Getting up early for a breakfast at airport Swenson's.. 2 thick french toasts, 2 cheese sausages, 1 sunny-side-up, 1 portion of mashed potato, a cup of coffee and apple juice... Sumptuous!!! It's really nice to have breakfast like tt once in a while...

Actually, the purpose is to send our dear ah bee off... Off to Hong Kong to find her 如意郎君..
See? How united and close we colleagues are?? Dun care about the crappy workload, crappy referral, crappy clients etc etc.. It is the good colleagues that matters, isn't it??
I think I am really blessed to have such a nice work support for my first formal job... Eveb during my attachment, I am also very lucky to have nice colleagues too...
Blessed!!!

Back about the Hong Kong trip... Besides going to find a 如意郎君, the main purpose is to go for an exchange... How nice is it to have a chance go out of Singapore and experience the social work field in other countries... Only if it doesn't come with a bond.. =(
But it would be a little scary to go alone.. Imagine staying alone in the apartment/room.. I am timid and I am a coward.. scary scary..
But our ah bee not scared wor...
See you in person in 3months time!! (shucks. u managed to ecscape the JCIA)

New year is coming and I realised that I haven't been blogging for quite some time.. I was browsing my handphone and once again found some photos which I thought I would blog but in the end I didn't.. So here is goes before I delete them from my HP...

Ling has a simple dream.. to have a simple breakfast (french toast & free flow coffee) at ikea on a weekend morning.. So far, Ling has only ate at Ikea for breakfast once... how sad is that...

Since last year when Ling finally got a room, her idea is to add new furniture to the rooom.. these are some of Ling's choices...

I think my taste are not too bad.. Just that I tend to procrastinate.. so in the end, I bought nothing of those.

There was a time (early Jan 08 actually) when Ling's family are sourcing for a place to eat to celebrate her grandmother's birthday.. So Ling and family went to Jumbo.. Seriously, Ling and family seldom eat out together.. First, got no car. Second, Ling's mum doesn't like to travel far.

The mee goreng is quite famous there.. Not too bad... A litttle spicy though..

Cereal prawn ball... I like!!!
