AMeiZing!

Finally it's time for Ah Mei's concert.. Watched her 阿密特 concert back in Singapore, but would still prefer to see the Ah Mei back in action.. So happy that the timing coincides with me in HK, and the tix in HK is so much cheaper than those in SG! Cat A tix is like only 90+ SGD!!
Didn't know that she is so popular in HK, that I only managed to buy the Cat B tix.. Still quite cheap though, about $63 bucks...

First time watching concert at the Coliseum (of course!)
Excited about the concert.. (i hope)

Me is super excited de!! The concert is a 四面台.. Superb!

As expected, Ah Mei's live is superb! Nowadays, if you can't sing live, you can't have concerts lah... She sang well, danced well, and entertained the crowds well.. She sort of promoted homosexual relationship during her concert, which may be good or not so good for different people.. A pity that she didn't have a special guest for this concert.. I presume 阿密特 is her special guest lah..

This is when she requested everyone to turn off their light stick, and on the light from our phones to create a starry scene while she is singing.. Pretty!

Of course, she sang many of her classic songs, and I like the jazz version of her 感应. If she could try more songs in a different style, I guess it will be a even better concert! Her 40mins non-stop medley was sort of the highlight of the concert.. 40mins! Imagine that !! Really 听出耳油 !I loved it!! Somehow had a little 感触 when she sang 最亲爱的, and I wonder why..

She sang 3 (or 4?) high-beat songs for the encore, some I know, some I have never heard of.. And ended with 三天三夜 which is a perfect song to end the concert! The atmosphere was so high!(at least for me lah..).. Now that the song is still ringing in my head!

Overall, I would say that I have enjoyed the concert a lot.. Her filler of singing 甜蜜蜜 was a bit redundant I think.. But nevertheless, I must say again that her "live" power is superb.. I think she can have more 即兴 stuff and try more different styles in singing some of her classic songs... The whole concert lasted for slightly more than 3 hours..

Conclusion: 值回票价。

I enjoyed the concert alot!!

Taiwan Day 1 - KaoHsiung

It's third trip to Taiwan, and people may say that I am wasting my $$ visiting the same country and same places but I dun care coz I love Taiwan to the max!! Every trip to Taiwan I venture to new places, and I am perfectly happy with it. This time, besides the good old Taipei, I ventured into Kaohsiung... A pity that I did not do much research on Kaohsiung before hand, if not, I would probably be able to explore more ...
Took Cathay to Taipei, and the cabin crews are wonderful!! They made me felt at home with their friendly and warm Taiwanese-accent Mandarin!! (unlike the =( service I received from SQ!)

The flight took about 1.5 hours from HK.. We decided to hit Kaohsiung as our first station (logistics reasons) and the whole journey to Kaohsiung took about 2+ hours (15mins from Taoyuan Airport to the Taoyuan HSR station and another 2 hours of high-speed rail to Zuoying station).

In fact, the MRT system at Kaohsiung is simple and easily accessible even with big luggage.. (which means, its as wheelchair friendly too!).. We took the MRT with our luggage to our 民宿 at Sanduo District (it is about >5 stops from Zuoying MRT, but no worries! Super accessible!). And then we lugged our luggage through the shopping mall, across the traffic junction (with no pedestrian lights) and reached our lovely and cozy 民宿 - La Villa de Sweet Heart..  =)

Actually, there are plenty of 民宿 in Kaohsiung area, and (I believe) within that particular building itself.. But  I guess it is the personalised service of the host of this 民宿 that has played a very major part in retaining her customers as well as having new ones..

The host has specially prepared this personalised message on the table with 2 complimentary masks . How sweet!
I quite like the bed! I suspect it is the latex bedding that I have been considering to buy  from ikea!

Fine amenities all provided.. Towels, hand towels, shampoo,  body wash, facial wash, body lotion and even sunblock!
I find that Kaohsiung is like a small community on its own. Their MRT uses a different "EZlink" card from Taipei, and they have little discounts for Kaohsiung "citizens" for some boat rides..
And I find the people different from those living in Taipei.. There are probably fewer people with thick make-up, and I once even spotted some students wearing their 民族 outfit walking on the street! How cool is that! Even more cool than those cosplay lah!

After lazing at the 民宿 for a while, we decided to head to a 夜市. Our aim is to go to one 夜市 every night! haha! We headed to Ruifeng Night Market (瑞豐夜市), and I love night markets!! This 瑞豐 is actually quite big, with game stalls, loads of food stall and other stalls selling clothes and accessories.. And it is here that I unleashed my rare buying impulse, and bought 1 dress, 1 shirt and 1 thin jacket (without trying, but they can't be tried anyway!). The uncle must be very happy to rip me off lah! But, somehow, I feel happier to buy things in TW than in HK!

(to be continued..)

May 8, 2012

Sometimes you just need some kicks before you went on to update the blog. I remember myself thinking that I should have my blog updated regularly given that I am in HK, and having more time to blog... Or maybe there are some people out there who are that desperate to find out how I am doing in HK... but well...

Time really flies... And I am now only about 1 month away from going back to SG... It feel like I have just arrived at the HK airport yesterday, and trying once again to adapt to the life as a student... ... Oh well, it is the final final class that we are going to have this coming Friday, and I think I will miss school!!!

Sitting in the library now, trying to finish up my last last assignment of the course. Maybe just like what Jordan said, maybe I an trying to prolong this closure to the course, and that is why I have been staring at my laptop since yesterday, and couldn't really squeeze out anything... But, I am sure I will get it done tomorrow!! (its the deadline anyway).

I still can't believe that I have actually made this step, to venture out of Singapore alone. I remembered I once said that I would not have this sort of courage to get out of Singapore alone.. But here I am! (though HK is not that far away from SG, but it is still a feat ok??!!)
I have also never thought that I will pursue a Master degree, since my undergrad days were so deadful... But here I am!!

Now, I tell myself that I am not going to pursue PHD after this whole torturous year of presentations, assignments and papers after papers... But who knows?
