Lots of mal-understanding of MSW's work scope can be widely seen..
Some of the common perceived MSW's work:
- Give financial assistance
- Volunteer, specifically, 义工
- "Investigate" your family background thoroughly
Had a new input this morning -- MSWs are not supposed to be busy, they should attend to people as and when these people wants, and that means NOW.
Sorry dude, MSW are busy beings too.
Quoting from our BCP, our core BCFs are:
Counselling
Crisis Intervention
Care/ Discharge
Financial
Part of crisis intervention means that we attend/ support patients/family in crisis, which means urgent and immediate. Thus, we also see cases at A&E too. And if the cases are at A&E, it means urgent and immediate. And this means, we can't attend to you as and when you want, and that means NOT NOW.
