April 4, 2010

March and April has been full of li li la la cases... I have to apologise to those who slipped passed me, and got discharged without me seeing. But I think you all should be doing very well lah...

I thought I was actually quite perked-up after the previous ICU case. Seen the best and not-so-good things for this case. But realised that I have a lot of backlog cases waiting for me to see. And did I say that it is the season of foreign patients? There's 2 of them parking opposite of one another in the ward.

Oh, it's the season of family-requesting-for-nursing-home as well! No way out unless the poor patient is in nurisng home. All children cannot take care because:
- "We have our own family":
Wow... Your parents are not your family already.

- "We are married off and not working, so we need to listen to our husband, who forbids us to care for our parents":
Will you listent to your husband if he says that he is not going to give you money? and i wonder if you will readily say yes if your husband wants you to care for HIS parents.

- "My house is too small to accommodate my parent":
Then maybe you should move into a 1-room rental flat to know what is SMALL.

- "My mum should look after him. If she doesn't want to, why should us?":
Your mum is 80 years old, duh!!!!!

- "So what will you do if we just don't open the door, and don't care about our parent?"
Maybe your God will strike you with lightning.

This keep me thinking about the values people has nowadays. I thought the current middle aged generation should still have some values on filial piety. If this generation is already like this, I wonder what will happen to the next, or even next next generation. Maybe instead of the HOTA thingy, we can have a PNHA - Parent Nursing Home Act. You will be automatically be placed in nursing home upon reaching 62 years old (once you get your monthly CPF payout), unless you opt out.
