Taiwan Day 1 - KaoHsiung

It's third trip to Taiwan, and people may say that I am wasting my $$ visiting the same country and same places but I dun care coz I love Taiwan to the max!! Every trip to Taiwan I venture to new places, and I am perfectly happy with it. This time, besides the good old Taipei, I ventured into Kaohsiung... A pity that I did not do much research on Kaohsiung before hand, if not, I would probably be able to explore more ...
Took Cathay to Taipei, and the cabin crews are wonderful!! They made me felt at home with their friendly and warm Taiwanese-accent Mandarin!! (unlike the =( service I received from SQ!)

The flight took about 1.5 hours from HK.. We decided to hit Kaohsiung as our first station (logistics reasons) and the whole journey to Kaohsiung took about 2+ hours (15mins from Taoyuan Airport to the Taoyuan HSR station and another 2 hours of high-speed rail to Zuoying station).

In fact, the MRT system at Kaohsiung is simple and easily accessible even with big luggage.. (which means, its as wheelchair friendly too!).. We took the MRT with our luggage to our 民宿 at Sanduo District (it is about >5 stops from Zuoying MRT, but no worries! Super accessible!). And then we lugged our luggage through the shopping mall, across the traffic junction (with no pedestrian lights) and reached our lovely and cozy 民宿 - La Villa de Sweet Heart..  =)

Actually, there are plenty of 民宿 in Kaohsiung area, and (I believe) within that particular building itself.. But  I guess it is the personalised service of the host of this 民宿 that has played a very major part in retaining her customers as well as having new ones..

The host has specially prepared this personalised message on the table with 2 complimentary masks . How sweet!
I quite like the bed! I suspect it is the latex bedding that I have been considering to buy  from ikea!

Fine amenities all provided.. Towels, hand towels, shampoo,  body wash, facial wash, body lotion and even sunblock!
I find that Kaohsiung is like a small community on its own. Their MRT uses a different "EZlink" card from Taipei, and they have little discounts for Kaohsiung "citizens" for some boat rides..
And I find the people different from those living in Taipei.. There are probably fewer people with thick make-up, and I once even spotted some students wearing their 民族 outfit walking on the street! How cool is that! Even more cool than those cosplay lah!

After lazing at the 民宿 for a while, we decided to head to a 夜市. Our aim is to go to one 夜市 every night! haha! We headed to Ruifeng Night Market (瑞豐夜市), and I love night markets!! This 瑞豐 is actually quite big, with game stalls, loads of food stall and other stalls selling clothes and accessories.. And it is here that I unleashed my rare buying impulse, and bought 1 dress, 1 shirt and 1 thin jacket (without trying, but they can't be tried anyway!). The uncle must be very happy to rip me off lah! But, somehow, I feel happier to buy things in TW than in HK!

(to be continued..)
